Periodize carbohydrate with training demand

These are not failures of motivation. They can signal low energy availability, an eating disorder, iron deficiency, another medical condition, or several factors together.

Avoid using event preparation as permission for rapid weight loss. A lighter body is not automatically a faster or healthier one, and performance gains from training can be undermined by chronic under-fueling.
